Next weekend is the beginning of Tulipfest here in Holland. We decided to take advantage of the fact that the rainclouds were not pouring rain like they had threatened, and headed to a local park to get some snapshots.
I ts things like this that will really make Holland hard to leave. It is beautiful here this time of year especially, and I normally really dislike spring. We can't wait to go to the actual festival and get some pictures of all that fun stuff. For now, here are a few glimpses of what it really looks like here.

No Specific Destination
This past weekend the boys and I decided on a whim to take a little day trip. We packed a picnic, loaded up the car with dogs, sporting equipment and the GPS and got on the road.
We didn't really know where we were going to end up, but we did know we needed a BREAK! Justin has been prepping for finals like a mad-man and last week was super rainy, so it felt good to get out of Holland for a little bit.
We ended up just north of St.Joseph first, at a neat little park right on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. We played there for awhile and some of us even dipped our toes in the water ;)
Next up; St. Joseph. A scenic town right on Lake Michigan. It was so pretty there; we had a nice picnic lunch and played soccer in the sand for a LONG time :)
Last, we headed back north and stopped at a state park where we played hockey in the empty parking lot and took the dogs on a nice hike through the woods; with tick collars this time ;)
We had a great weekend exploring the state a little more. I think it is safe to say we will all miss the adventures we have had here. This is Justin's last week of school so it was a nice little break for him too! We find out in June sometime (hopefully) if we are moving back to Wisconsin, so keep your fingers crossed!

Taming the Competitive Spirit
I am all for a winning attitude and a good faith effort. But my goodness is Logan competitive! Recently he threw a HUGE fit over his Mario Cart game which resulted in getting it taken away for a week. Then, he proceeded to be nasty about a few of his other games and now he has lost all WII priveliges until he can handle losing with a little more "grace". Here is the video that triggered the initial awareness that he has a small problem.

Easter Weekend 2010
We had a really good Easter this year; it was alot different celebrating on our own, but we made it work :) Logan missed his cousins and I made my first ham......it turned out great!
We spent Saturday afternoon at a friends house here in Holland. Logan and her two girls enjoyed and Easter egg hunt and played together all day. Logan and Carlei get along GREAT! They are coming over next weekend and Logan is already counting down the days :)
On Easter we Logan searched for his basket and found it afer walking past it 5 times.......typical guy thing ;) Then we were off to church. The service was AWESOME. I think we will miss all the fun things our church does here in MI when we move back, but we are enjoying it while we can. I made an Easter dinner for the first time, and it thankfully turned out well!
All in all, we missed our families alot, but only a few short weeks until we see everyone again!
